Stefan Sittig is a director, choreographer, fight director, movement coach, educator and performer. He has directed/choreographed over 90 productions including work Off-Broadway, internationally in Canada and Uruguay, and in the D.C. area for The Kennedy Center, The Studio Theatre, Metro Stage, The Washington Savoyards, The American Century Theatre, Open Circle Theatre, Adventure Theatre, 1st Stage and others.

Productions that Stefan has been involved with have garnered a total of 4 Helen Hayes Awards (D.C.’s equivalent of the Tony Award) and 19 Helen Hayes Award nominations. He has worked with several Broadway and Hollywood luminaries, including Angela Lansbury, George Hearn, Marvin Hamlisch, Tina Fey, Christina Hendricks, Savion Glover and Baayork Lee.

Stefan is on the faculty at George Mason University where he teaches Musical Theatre Dance and Stage Combat. He has also served on the faculty at University of Maryland (Global Campus), The University of Virginia (SCPS), Virginia Commonwealth University, Messiah College, The National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Georgetown and the Escuela de Comedia Musical in Montevideo, Uruguay. He has taught master classes, workshops, coached students, and created choreography for theatre productions at Georgetown University, George Washington University and James Madison University.

Stefan holds an MFA in Theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BA in English and Drama from The University of Virginia. He is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) and Chair of the College/University Division of the VTA Board. Stefan is half Uruguayan and was raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
