Performance politics and political use of performance have both had interesting histories in Asia. This panel looks at some recent political events and the role of performance in it. Election campaigns, the G20 summit, street theatre performance, cultural tourism and social activism are studied and analyzed to evaluate and understand the role of popular cultural performance in India, Korea, Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines
